Finally Making a Tiki Capsule Wardrobe!

I’ve been thinking about this for a really long time! Finally, I’m doing something about it!

A Tiki capsule-inspired wardrobe has been on my list of makes for a really, really long time. I’ve been collecting patterns and fabric for quite some time now. As part of my thoughtful sewing and knitting, I thought it was time to make a capsule wardrobe or two.

Ode To Grandma Betty!

Today’s video is dedicated to my Grandma Betty!https://youtu.be/rty00D1so9A

Grandma Betty was a force! She was the woman who would be in your corner and would come out fighting for you. She was a knitter, a baker, a friend, a mother, and a grandmother, but most of all she was a person that everyone loved.

My Aunt Margie heard that I wanted to put together a book of Grandma Betty’s recipes. It turned out that she had many of her original recipes. (Later this month I will save a couple of them with you.) She photocopied all of them for me and put them together in a duotang. This red folder also contained many photos and a history of Grandma Betty. I am going to share some of these photos below.

One of the stories I forgot to share in the video is another of many about her generosity. My dad used to play Broomball and asked if Grandma Betty could knit him a tuque in the team colours (purple and yellow). She not only knit him a tuque, but she also knit one for every member of the team! That was how generous she was!

Every birthday we loved her Christmas and birthday cards (with a few dollars inside), her shortbread cookies, and our knitted gifts. Myself and my siblings always cherished ours. I truly wish I could find the Sherbert yellow shoulder warmer that Grandma made me.

Unfortunately, I no longer have any of the things she knit me. Sadly, they wear out over time. If past me had been thinking, I could have saved them all and framed them.

I think about her every single day. Occasionally, when I need a reminder to be strong, I can smell her Chantilly Lace perfume. I miss that woman more than I could ever explain. This is the reason why I talk about her so often. She is largely responsible for why I am the person I am today.

Just like Grandma Betty, if I’m sitting, I’m knitting.
